DGT #40: Long-Ma (Canada's Robot Dragon-Horse)

Posted by Master of Drankgons on

It would just be fitting that on July 31, 2017 - the birthday of the Mother of Drankgons - this amazing Robot Dragon-Horse would be unleashed in Ottawa, Canada.  Well played, Canada... Well played.  Long Ma, a half-dragon / half-horse creature (actually robot), stands at 36 feet high, weighs 45 tons, breathes smoke and fire, and can trot, gallop, rear up, and lie down. Wait, hold on. IT CAN BREATHE FIRE?!?!?!?!? Yep, it can breathe fire.
Ok, one more fire picture just for good measure...

French street theatre company La Machine created Long Ma (and some giant robot spider too, but who cares) to be part of a four-day public performance called “The Spirit of the Dragon-Horse, With Stolen Wings” in Ottawa, Canada. Yes, this is real life.

Over the course of four days, an elaborate story unfolded, with Long Ma and Kumo (the stupid spider) “awakening” and performing three battles, with the final one occurring at the Canadian War Museum (a decidedly apropos move). Check out this full recap with videos from each day. Or just look at the pretty photos that I found below.

Who needs nuke when you have GIANT ROBOT DRAGONS THAT BREATHE FIRE. At least Canada is well-prepared in the event of potential nuclear war. How hard is it to become a Canadian citizen again?
