DGT #31: The Thanksgiving Dragon (Dragon City)

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! Team Drankgon is thankful for dragons (of course) and all of you. It has been a great first year for our business, and we could not have done it without all of you. Today's Drankgon Tale is the Thanksgiving Dragon from the popular game/app/whatever Dragon City.  This dragon is one of the first habitants of the magical Dragon Islands in the game. It's known for its humble and grateful nature and has an incredible fondness towards oven-cooked turkey! Just look at it's beautiful transition from an egg with a hat and suit to a super cute baby dragon to a super nerdy older dragon that sorta looks like a leprechaun. I'm curious how he managed to get that shirt/jacket...

DGT #25: Dragons of Tomorrowland

Tomorrowland is one of the biggest electronic music festivals held in the world, taking place in Boom, Belgium.  The festival takes place July 22-24th in the town of Boom, 16 kilometers south of Antwerp, 32 kilometers north of Brussels, and has been organized since 2005. Tomorrowland has since become one of the most notable global music festivals.  This year's lineup featured DeadMau5, Alesso, Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren, David Guetta, Galantis, Afrojack, Steve Aoki, and more. But let's be honest: The real draw here is the amazing DRAGON STAGE they made for this year. I will let the pictures do the talking for me.          There was an American spin-off called TommorrowWorld held in Chattahoochee Hills, Georgia...

DGT #24: Elliot (Pete's Dragon)

This week's Tale is in honor of one of my favorite childhood movies getting a reboot in the next few weeks. Yes, I'm sure most of you remember Elliot from Pete's Dragon. Pete's Dragon was originally a 1977 American live-action/animated musical film from Walt Disney Productions. It is a live-action film but one of its title characters, a dragon named Elliott, is animated. The story is about a young orphan named Pete who initially lives with the Gogans, an abusive hillbilly family, but then runs away. He then enters the town of Passamaquoddy, a small fishing community on Passamaquoddy Bay in eastern Maine, where he meets Elliott the dragon.  Elliott acts as his protector throughout the movie.  He...

DGT #23: Charizard (Pokemon)

I have been holding off on profiling a Pokémon, but with the recent domination of Pokémon Go, I cannot wait any longer. It's time for Charizard to make his debut. An orange, draconic Pokémon, Charizard is the evolved form of Charmeleon, which is the evolved form of Charmander. You might know Charmander better, as he is one of the initial Pokémon you can pick in the Pokémon Go craze that is sweeping the nation.  But Charmander is not a dragon. Charizard most definitely is. Look at those wings, claws, horn, tail, and fierce stare! Dragon for sure. Originally called "Lizardon" in Japanese, Nintendo decided to give the various Pokémon species "clever and descriptive names" related to their appearance or features when translating the game for western audiences...

DGT #22: American Dragon (Jake Long)

This week's Drankgon Tale is an American one in honor of the 4th of July. American Dragon: Jake Long is an American animated television series. It was produced by Walt Disney Television Animation and created by Jeff Goode. It premiered on Disney Channel on January 21, 2005, and ended on September 1, 2007. Set in the New York City borough of Manhattan, this animated series tells the story of a happy-go-lucky thirteen-year-old Chinese-American, Jake Long, who must balance ordinary adolescent transformation with the power and ability to change into a dragon. When he eventually unlocks his full potential and turns into the American Dragon, he has to overcome obstacles to protect the magical creatures living in the city. He must do...
