Drankgon Tales

DGT #29: Yoshi

Posted by Master of Drankgons on

Ah yes, the cute and lovable dinos-errrr-dragon: Yoshi. Yoshi first appeared in Super Mario World as a native male dinosaur, whom Mario or Luigi could ride on to eat enemies and otherwise navigate Dinosaur Land more quickly and easily. I guess technically he is a dinosaur, BUT he eats things, can breathe fire, has spikes on his head, and can fly on occasion. So he's basically a dragon in my mind. Also, his character is based on a dragon from another video game. Yes, the inspiration for Yoshi can be traced back to the green dragon Tamagon in the 1984 video game Devil World. Coincidentally, both...

DGT #28: Dragon Con

Posted by Master of Drankgons on

It's too bad that we learned about this convention so late in the game, because apparently it's starting TODAY. Yes, there is something called DRAGON CON. And we want in. You can expect to see a Drankgon booth there next year. 100%. Dragon Con is a North America multigenre convention, founded in 1987, which takes place once each year in Atlanta, Georgia. As of 2014, the convention draws attendance of 63,000, features hundreds of guests, encompasses five hotels in the Peachtree Center neighborhood of downtown Atlanta near Centennial Olympic Park, and runs thousands of hours of programming for fans of science fiction, fantasy, comic books, and other...

The plot of the movie involves Lollipop Dragon, along with his gang of friends, trying to save the day following confrontations with Baron Bad Blood.  They have to beat Baron Bad Blood in the Christmas Race or else he will force everyone to eat his liver-flavored lollipops on Christmas.   I had never actually heard of or seen this movie, but apparently Franklin McAllister III has seen it,...

DGT #26: Spyro (but really, Malefor)

Posted by Master of Drankgons on

Spyro the Dragon is an eager, purple dragon who starred in a series of platform video games that has somehow sold more than 20 million units worldwide. Spyro the Dragon was first released in North America on 9/11/98 for the PlayStation (great choice of date there) and in Europe on 10/23/98 (better choice, i.e. my birthday). It is a platform game that placed the player as Spyro, a small, purple dragon set with the task of freeing his fellow dragons from crystal prisons, which are scattered around their world. Each level is accessed through 'portals' from a main world. There are also a number of other interesting characters...

Posted by Master of Drankgons on

Tomorrowland is one of the biggest electronic music festivals held in the world, taking place in Boom, Belgium.  The festival takes place July 22-24th in the town of Boom, 16 kilometers south of Antwerp, 32 kilometers north of Brussels, and has been organized since 2005. Tomorrowland has since become one of the most notable global music festivals.  This year's lineup featured DeadMau5, Alesso, Tiesto, Armin Van Buuren, David Guetta, Galantis, Afrojack, Steve Aoki, and more. But let's be honest: The real draw here is the amazing DRAGON STAGE they made for this year. I will let the pictures do...
