DGT #14: Drogon (Game of Thrones)

Posted by Master of Drankgons on

And finally we get to Drogon, the largest and meanest of the dragons from Game of Thrones.  He is named after Daenerys' late husband Khal Drogo.  Drogon is believed to be the reincarnation of Balerion the Black Dread, but Daenerys decides to give him a new name for his new life. Drogon is slightly larger than his siblings. Most of his scales are black, shadowing red ones that run down his back and neck. His wings and frills are black-red mix, down to the wing-bones which are black. His eyes are orange-red. Over the course of the series he has grown...

DGT #13: Rhaegal (Game of Thrones)

Posted by Master of Drankgons on

Apparently there is a live Game of Thrones themed scavenger hunt tonight in North Beach. Team Drankgon will definitely be in attendance, dressed up, per usual.  Here is the link if anyone wants to come check it out: http://www.sfweekly.com/exhibitionist/2016/04/12/game-of-thrones-scavenger-hunt-finds-its-way-to-north-beach Onto GOT dragon #2: Rhaegal. Awwwwww, just look at him. He's such a cute little schmoopie! I just want to pet him and feed him flamingos. Rhaegal is another one of Khaleesi's dragon. He was named for her other brother, Rhaegar Targaryen. He is distinguishable by his green and bronze colored scales, and his yellow-orange colored wings. And of course, his cute face. He was born along...

DGT #12: Viserion (Games of Thrones)

Team Drankgon had quite the weekend. We saw the Jungle Book (scary), held an 18-team Spikeball tournament near the Golden Gate Bridge, donned our mythical creature onesies for a Polk Street pub crawl/karaoke, and then saw M83 at the Fox. A big thanks to everyone who came out on Saturday for the Spikeball tournament, as well as Tipsy Elves for donating such great prizes. It was an epic day, to say the least. Now back to the dragons. This is a big week, because on Sunday, Game of Thrones returns with season 6.  And thankfully, the TV show has outrun...

DGT #11: Piff the Magic Dragon

Posted by Master of Drankgons on

Last Friday night we went to go see Piff the Magic Dragon at Cobbs in North Beach. I admit that I did not know much about him before the show other than the fact that he had been the runner-up on America's Got Talent. And he dresses like a dragon. And has a dog named Mr. Piffles, that also dresses like a dragon. And does magic. OK, so it was an easy sell for me. Whatever. He was pretty awesome. John van der Put (born 9 June 1980), who performs under the stage name Piff the Magic Dragon (http://piffthemagicdragon.com/), is a magician and...

DGT #10: Madam Mim Dragon (Sword in the Stone)

Posted by Master of Drankgons on

Ok, so this week's profile isn't technically a dragon, but I think most of you will remember the epic purple witch dragon from Sword in the Stone. Words cannot express the love I had for this movie as a child.  If you were born in the 80's then you probably watched this movie at least 1,000 times. Guess I am dating myself, but whatever. My kids will definitely be force fed this movie someday. My favorite scene from the movie was always the magic shape-shifting battle between Merlin and Madam Mim.  I would rate this battle scene up there as one of...
